Antonio Brown says ‘Dancing With the Stars’ helped his footwork

Antonio Brown celebration

Who said being on a TV show like “Dancing With the Stars” during the offseason is a distraction? It may have improved Antonio Brown’s game, at least according to Antonio Brown.

Brown showed up to organized team activities on Thursday and spoke about appearing on the popular dancing competition show. He told NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala that dancing helped his footwork.

“I don’t want to say it made me faster, but I feel like it has helped me a lot with my shock absorbers,” Brown said. “I’ve been able to drop my hips and get on the ball of my foot.”

Brown, who finished tied for first in the NFL with 136 receptions last season, had not participated in a football workout in months. Despite that, he insists he is in very good shape.

“I felt pretty good today, actually, my feet, I’m in shape, running my routes and dropping my hips,” Brown said. “I still have work to do on my finishes, but that will come. For the most part, I’m feeling good and can transition out of my breaks.”

Brown would like to get a new contract, but the Steelers made it pretty clear how they feel about that. If “Dancing With the Stars” actually improved the skill set of arguably the best receiver in football, opposing defenses are going to have even more trouble stopping him in 2016.
