Brandon Marshall took to social media on Wednesday to challenge Antonio Brown to a high-stakes bet, and the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver is open to accepting.
In a video he posted on Instagram, Marshall showed off his New York Jets-themed Porsche and said he recently saw Brown’s photo of his Steelers-themed Rolls Royce. Marshall is proposing that the player with the most receiving yards in 2016 gets the other guy’s whip.
TMZ reached out to Brown, and he basically said he doesn’t believe that Marshall would actually want to make that bet. But if he does, Brown is down.
“He don’t really wanna do that. He just wants some PR. He too old to be doing that,” Brown said. “The RR is about $100k up [from the value of the Porsche]. If he really serious, CALL ME … I’ll gladly accept. Don’t Internet it.”
If the value of Brown’s car is $100,000 more than the value of Marshall’s, the bet might actually make sense. Brown, who was second in the NFL with 1,834 yards receiving last year, has to give Marshall odds somehow. Marshall had 1,502 receiving yards in his first season with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing to him.
We know how excited Marshall is to have Fitzpatrick back (and this video proves it), but he might be getting a bit carried away. Unless Brown gets injured, it’s tough to imagine Marshall producing more yards receiving than him.
