Antonio Gates could be option for Chargers after Henry injury
The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Tuesday evening that tight end Hunter Henry has suffered a torn ACL, which would end his season. Henry was expected to be a big part of the team’s offense and a potential breakout candidate in 2018, so this is a big blow.
Now the question for the Chargers becomes: Who will replace him?
While Virgil Green is next up on the depth chart, one has to wonder whether the team will consider bringing back Antonio Gates. That’s something ESPN’s Adam Schefter pointed out.

Gates turns 38 next month and was told by the Chargers that they didn’t plan to bring him back. It would be understandable if this injury changes their minds.
Gates had 30 catches for 316 yards and three touchdowns last season. He has spent his entire career with the Chargers.
