Bill Belichick will not rule out coaching into his 70s
Bill Belichick once said he had no intention of coaching into his 70s. He may have since had a change of heart.
Back in 2009, Belichick, then 57, made clear that he would not coach past his 70th birthday, saying he “won’t be like Marv Levy.” Ten years later, Belichick, now 67, appears to be having second thoughts.
Bill Belichick said in ‘09 documentary that he wouldn’t coach into his 70s. He was asked about that by @OMFonWEEI today.
“When I said it, maybe I didn’t know what 70 felt like,” the 67-year-old Belichick said. “So I’m not really sure if that’s an accurate statement today or not”

Belichick will turn 70 on April 16, 2022. If he were very serious about his previous timeline, 2021 could have been his last season, but it sounds like the door is open on coaching beyond that. That might put him on par with another ageless wonder in the organization.
