Those wondering where the Buffalo Bills went wrong in their 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the playoffs at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. on Sunday didn’t have to look far for the answer.

During CBS’ postgame show, former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher did not hold back when talking about what the problem was for the Bills.

“Buffalo had no big plays. Everything was a grind. No plays over 20 yards. There was no passing game that existed for the Buffalo Bills. It was all sideways. We saw three big dropped passes,” Cowher said.

“They were one-dimensional. They were just a running football team, and they were on the back of Josh Allen, who was trying to do it all.”

The Bills dominated in time of possession. They held the ball around 37 minutes compared to 23 for the Chiefs. The Bills also rushed for 182 yards and passed for 186. They had some balance, but like Cowher said, they had no big plays. They averaged 4.8 yards per pass compared to 9.3 for the Chiefs. Buffalo’s longest run was 18 yards.

It sure didn’t help that Stefon Diggs dropped what could have been a game-changing play in the fourth quarter.

Cowher mentioned the dropped passes and that led him to say that the absence of Gabe Davis, who had a knee injury and did not play, hurt the team.

Buffalo finally got the opportunity to host the Chiefs in the playoffs and still couldn’t beat them. The Bills have lost to the Chiefs in the playoffs three of the last four years.
