The Jacksonville Jaguars seem destined to finish with five or less wins this season for the sixth consecutive year, but Blake Bortles is more focused on trying to snap a losing streak than worrying about how high his team is going to draft in April. In fact, Bortles does not think the Jaguars are guaranteed a losing season.
On Wednesday, Bortles told reporters that the Jags are going to try to win out rather than giving up.
Bortles: There's no sense in folding up shop and getting ready for next year. We have 6 games left, we can still go 8-8. #Jaguars

Bortles: We are heading in the right direction…I know it's hard to say and hear that, but I truly believe it

Bortles must be seeing a lot of stuff we can’t see, because to the naked eye the Jaguars are heading in the opposite of the right direction. After giving fans a glimmer of hope with a 2-3 start, they have lost five straight and look clueless on offense. Bortles has thrown six interceptions during that span, including two of the most embarrassing of his career (videos here).
Gus Bradley has said he is sticking with Bortles as his starter, but the team is unlikely to do the same with the head coach. When it is all but certain that your head coach is going to be fired by the end of the season, it’s hard to argue things heading in the “right direction.”
