Blake Bortles will start for Jaguars in regular-season finale
The Jacksonville Jaguars had one of the most disappointing seasons of any team in the NFL this season, but they are somehow going to finish the year with the quarterback who began it under center for them.
Blake Bortles, who was benched earlier in the season for his poor play, entered last week’s game midway through the second quarter after Cody Kessler injured his shoulder. He ended up leading the Jaguars to a 17-7 win over the Miami Dolphins, and the former first-round pick will have a chance to do the same on Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Bortles attempted just six passes against Miami and completed five of them for 39 yards. He also rushed four times for 25 yards. With Leonard Fournette battling foot and ankle injuries and potentially in head coach Doug Marrone’s dog house, Bortles will likely be asked to do a bit more on Sunday.
All indications have been that the Jaguars plan to part ways with Bortles after the season, so it seems unlikely that the regular-season finale will mean a whole lot for his future with the team.
