Cody Kessler has not exactly solved any of the issues the Jacksonville Jaguars are having offensively since he was inserted into the starting lineup over Blake Bortles, but that does not mean the team intends to give its former first-round pick another shot in the future.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Jaguars are expected to part ways with Bortles during the offseason, and that will likely mean releasing him and taking a dead money hit of about $16 million.

The Jaguars have scored just two touchdowns in the past three weeks with Kessler under center, so Bortles obviously isn’t the only issue. However, he is not the quarterback that is going to take Jacksonville to the next level, which is something the team should have realized before signing him to a three-year extension last offseason.
Bortles recently said he would like to remain with the Jags, but it does not sound like all of his teammates share that sentiment.
