Maxx Crosby thought Ravens made ‘weak’ move during his visit

Maxx Crosby opened up and discussed his side of the failed trade that was supposed to send him to the Baltimore Ravens, and his experience was an awkward one.

In a lengthy version of his “The Rush” podcast, Crosby detailed the period between when he learned about the trade to Baltimore and when he found out it was falling through. The Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher revealed that the Ravens flew him to Washington, D.C. instead of Baltimore, citing a lack of direct flights.

“They flew me to D.C. because that was the only straight through, and then we had to drive two hours from D.C. all the way to Baltimore after the five-hour flight. That s–t was f—ing weak. I’m like, damn,” Crosby said.

Crosby first met with the Ravens the next day and underwent the requisite medical tests to make the trade official. Initially, he did not get to meet coach Jesse Minter or general manager Eric DeCosta, which he found strange.

“I didn’t get to meet with (Minter) until the end of the day,” Crosby said. “I didn’t get to see the GM at all. I thought I was going to see him when I first got there. I didn’t see him for five hours.”

When he finally did get to meet Minter, Crosby said “the energy was a little bit off.” It was at that point that Minter told him team doctors were concerned about his knee, and that the Ravens wanted to get more opinions. That “terrified” Crosby, who even sought and received assurances from Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who performed his knee surgery, that his recovery was on schedule.

Crosby admitted it is likely no one will ever know what actually happened that led to the trade being called off, but that he wound up “where I’m supposed to be.” Other teams around the NFL reportedly believe the Ravens got cold feet and used the medicals as an excuse to pull out of the trade.

As for Crosby, he remains with the Raiders, and seems to have a vendetta against the Ravens for their handling of the situation. Based on his recounting of the story, it’s easy to understand why.
