Everyone said the same thing about Brock Purdy after his Week 1 performance

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy made some questionable decisions during Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, and it prompted a lot of people to make the same comment about him.

Purdy was inconsistent during the bulk of Sunday’s game against the Seahawks at Lumen Field in Seattle, Wa. He was intercepted twice during the game, and neither came on a particularly good decision. The second pick, in particular, was a throw that was essentially launched into triple coverage.

Naturally, many people immediately brought up the $265 million contract extension the 49ers gave Purdy during the offseason. Some felt Purdy was trying far too hard to justify that price tag, while others suggested the 49ers were going to quickly regret their investment.

I was told Brock Purdy is worth 55M per year and could carry his team

Purdy's playing like a guy who feels like he has to justify $53m a year.

Purdy has to stop trying to earn his 250 Million dollar contract on every throw.

With more money comes higher expectations. Purdy’s contract will be used against him whenever he underperforms or makes a poor decision, as he certainly did on those plays. In fact, it was already happening before he had even played a game under the new deal.

Purdy got the last laugh, at least for Week 1. He led the 49ers on a seven-play, 68 yard drive with three minutes to go to give the 49ers a lead they managed to keep. He went 26/35 overall for 277 yards and two touchdowns along with the pair of interceptions.
