Browns’ Chad Thomas diagnosed with neck sprain after scary practice injury

Cleveland Browns

One of the most frightening moments of the NFL offseason took place on Monday when Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Chad Thomas was immobilized and stretchered off the practice field, but fortunately it sounds like he is going to be just fine.

The Browns announced on Monday evening that Thomas was diagnosed with a neck sprain. He was back at the team’s facility by 5 p.m. after being transported to a nearby hospital earlier in the day.

“Anytime something happens like a stinger, or anything dealing with any issues like that, you want to be more cautious than anything and that is what we are doing,” Browns coach Freddie Kitchens told reporters. “You do not want to see your teammate laying there. But again, the protocol from anything like that is sometimes it looks worse than it is, not to make any light of it.”

That’s outstanding news, as the injury certainly appeared much more serious when it first happened.

Thomas, a third-round pick in 2018, appeared in four games for the Browns last season. We’re glad to hear what happened on Monday was only a scare.
