Is Aaron Rodgers on a darkness retreat again? Who knows, but the Pittsburgh Steelers have yet to hear anything from the veteran quarterback amid the start of the team’s minicamp.
“The Steelers have not received word from Aaron Rodgers on his future and there is no expectation of a final decision prior to the NFL Draft,” Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported on Monday.
With this silence from Rodgers, the Steelers will kick off their minicamp with Will Howard atop the quarterback pecking order, added Rapoport.
Rodgers’ future is still a mystery. He signed a 1-year, $13.65 million contract with Pittsburgh in 2025 and has yet to ink a new one. However, the Steelers haven’t closed the door on potentially running it back with the future Pro Football Hall of Famer.
With his former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy joining the Steelers as Mike Tomlin’s successor, rumors of Rodgers’ potential return to Pittsburgh for at least one more season continue to swirl.
For now, the Steelers will operate with a QB room featuring Howard and Mason Rudolph. Howard never saw the field during his NFL rookie season in 2025, but there is an opportunity for him to win the QB1 role, especially if Rodgers doesn’t return.
