Report: Buccaneers investigating threatening tweet about GM Jason Licht
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly investigating after a fan posted a potentially threatening tweet referencing general manager Jason Licht.
Buccaneers fan Mike Rogers is being investigated by team security for his since-deleted tweet, which featured a GIF of a murder scene from the film King of New York accompanied with the text “When I see Jason Licht next time I roll through Tampa.”
Rogers said he was upset the Buccaneers didn’t take Derwin James, but that he didn’t mean the sentiments he conveyed.
“Yes, that was a total exaggeration,” Rogers told Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “Just caught up in the moment. It was just a tasteless tweet. I’m not a psychopath.”
Sadly, this is not all that uncommon among impassioned sports fans. Rogers may not be a threat to Licht, but the Bucs have a duty to investigate and make completely sure.
