Colin Kaepernick has received plenty of support from the NFL community as teams continue to overlook him this offseason, and the free agent quarterback got a shoutout from the music industry as well on Sunday night.
Before she introduced Demi Lovato’s performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, rapper Cardi B veered off-script and expressed gratitude for what Kaepernick has accomplished with his national anthem protest.

Cardi B’s shoutout came on the same night that yet another NFL player took a knee during the playing of the national anthem. If raising awareness and starting a conversation was Kaepernick’s goal when he first decided to kneel last year, he has certainly accomplished that.
