The San Francisco 49ers are still the center of national anthem protests, even if Colin Kaepernick is no longer on the team.
Safety Eric Reid took action by kneeling for the anthem ahead of the Niners’ “Sunday Night Football” game against the Vikings.

The latest action from Reid continues a trend he established last season when he joined Kaepernick and another teammate, Eli Harold, by kneeling. This was the first team Reid kneeled during the preseason.
Reid maintains a social conscience and recently spoke about the events in Charlottesville, which helps explain why he is protesting.
“It’s becoming more apparent for people to see the issues that we’re talking about, especially in the way it happened in Charlottesville,” Reid said Aug. 15. “We’re just hopeful that if we keep talking about it, we don’t let it go away because a lot of people just want things to blow over like, ‘Oh, that’s an isolated incident.’ But it happens every day.
“If we keep talking about it, hopefully we can make this change. It needs to stop being ‘hopefully.’ It needs to happen. It needs to happen now.”
