Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon has made his thoughts on Kyler Murray very clear.

Gannon joined “The Burns & Gambo Show” Tuesday on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Phoenix. Host John Gambadoro asked whether there was any doubt to Gannon about who will be the team’s starting quarterback next season.

“No, there is not,” Gannon replied with a laugh. “I love [Murray].”

Gannon is in his first season as the Cardinals’ head coach and only started to coach Murray in games fewer than two months ago.

“Being here for a year with him now, I’m more convicted than when I got here,” Gannon said.

Gannon praised the work Murray has put in.

“He’s done everything we asked. I just feel like what he’s done, the work he’s put in to get to this point … I’ve been very pleased with him.”

Gannon took over the Cardinals’ job in in Feb. 2023. Murray was in the early parts of recovering from a torn ACL at the time. The 2019 No. 1 pick wasn’t finally cleared to return to action for the Cardinals until November, and he’s made a big difference on the team.

Murray has completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 1,537 yards, 9 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in seven games this season. His best game came on Sunday, when he helped Arizona beat Gannon’s former team, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Though Arizona has gone 4-12 this season, they’re 3-4 with Murray at quarterback.

There have been questions about whether Arizona would want Murray to remain as their quarterback of the future. It sounds like Gannon has his mind made up.
