Carson Palmer cleared from concussion protocol, will practice Wednesday
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer appears to be on track to return to the field on Monday night against the New York Jets.
The Cardinals announced on Tuesday that Palmer has been cleared from the concussion protocol and will return to practice on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old veteran was concussed on a fourth-quarter sack in a Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams (video here) and sat out Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers. Backup quarterback Drew Stanton threw for 124 yards and two touchdowns in Palmer’s absence to help guide Arizona to the 33-21 win, improving them to 2-3 on the year.
Palmer hasn’t been all that sharp this season, even when healthy, but he should have an excellent chance to get back on track against a Jets defense that has given up the second-most passing yards and the third-most passing touchdowns to opposing offenses in 2016 (per ESPN).
