Chad Ochocinco Changing Name Back to Chad Johnson

On August 29, 2008, Chad Johnson legally changed his name to Chad Ochocinco.  Why?  Because he’s insane and was bored with his last name, of all things.  Oh yeah, and he loves attention.  Now for something you may not know.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ochocinco joined Trey Wingo and the NFL Live crew via telephone.  Wingo tried to get him to say a few things about his current situation in Cincinnati, his Tweet that possibly showed an interest in joining the Patriots, and Marvin Lewis’ comments about Bill Belichick being too smart to want Ocho to play for the Patriots.  Chad did a decent job of avoiding those questions and saying he wants to remain a Bengal, but he did provide some unexpected news: he’s changing his last name back to Johnson.

When Wingo asked him why, Chad said he “has no choice” and is just “done with the Ochocinco thing.”  In other words the artist formally known as Johnson, and soon to be formally known as Ochocinco and known as Johnson again, is bored.  If the Bengals aren’t going to cut ties with him, he has to do something to keep things fresh, right?  What a weirdo.

Meanwhile, Ochocinco jerseys just became throwback and Johnson jerseys are no longer throwback.  They are, however, relevant once again.
