NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson had some encouraging news for fans who bemoan the network’s departure from seven hours of commercial-free football.

Hanson revealed this week that RedZone will cut back on the number of commercials that it airs this season. While the ads will not disappear completely, Hanson promised that they will be less frequent than they were in 2025.

“I could tell you from where we ended last year, there will not be more,” the longtime RedZone host told Front Office Sports’s Baker Machado. “In fact, the actual ads that you see, there will be fewer of what we call the 15-second commercials with the audio going and the product and whatnot.”

RedZone started to work ads in late in the 2024 season, much to the annoyance of NFL fans. The decision to double down on such commercials in 2025 led to a genuine backlash.

The NFL defended itself by pointing out that the amount of ads is still very small for a seven-hour window, but a big part of RedZone’s appeal was the lack of commercials to begin with. As long as there are any ads, fans will not be happy, but a reduction in commercials relative to last season is at least a small win.
