Report: Chandler Jones had bad reaction to synthetic marijuana
Chandler Jones was using synthetic marijuana before he went to the Foxboro Police Station on Sunday and was transported to a local hospital, according to a report.
Chris Gasper of the Boston Globe reported on Wednesday that Jones did not overdose but instead had a “bad reaction” to a substance he had taken. Gasper later added that a source confirmed Jones used synthetic marijuana.

As the details have continued to emerge, we actually speculated that that’s exactly what happened with Jones. Audio from the dispatch call after he showed up to the police station featured an officer saying he had found Class D drugs at Jones’ home. You can read more about that here.
Initial reports claimed that Jones was taken to the hospital via ambulance after he overdosed on pills.
Synthetic marijuana, also known as spice or K2, has become increasingly popular among athletes, as it is not detectable on a normal drug test. If you remember, it is the same drug that Ole Miss superstar Robert Nkemdiche is rumored to have been using before a frightening incident that took place at a hotel last month.
The NFL is looking into the situation involving Jones, and he could end up being placed in the league’s substance abuse program. However, he is unlikely to be suspended as a first-time drug offender even if the report is accurate.
