After the Colts were blown out by the Rams 46-9 in their season opener, Scott Tolzien was in agreement with the decision to remove him from the game.
With Andrew Luck reportedly weeks away from returning, the Colts will be forced to hold down the fort as best they can at the quarterback position until he is ready to resume his role as the starter.
On Sunday, Scott Tolzien drew the start and the results were not very good. Tolzien completed 9-of-18 passes for 128 yards and two interceptions, including a pick-six on his first pass of the game. Tolzien also had a fumble, which was fortunately recovered by Indianapolis.

In the fourth quarter, Tolzien was benched in favor of Jacoby Brissett, who the Colts recently acquired in a trade with the Patriots. After the game, Tolzien admitted the decision was the “right call.”
Tolzien: "You never want to be taken out of a game. But it was the right call."

Going forward, head coach Chuck Pagano and his staff have a decision to make regarding the quarterback position. Tolzien did very little to assure the organization he can be a capable fill in during Luck’s absence. Pagano said the team will “take a look at everything” but did not confirm a change would be made.
Asked Pagano directly if he's considering a change at QB. Said "we're going to look at everything." Stopped short of saying "yes."

Luck can’t return soon enough for the Colts. A few more outings like the one on Sunday and, regardless of who the quarterback is, fans may begin looking ahead to 2018 sooner rather than later.
