Cooper Kupp’s funny Peyton Manning story goes viral
Cooper Kupp may have turned down years of valuable advice from Peyton Manning, but the Los Angeles Rams star had no idea he was doing it.
In a recent Twitter Spaces, Kupp shared an awesome story about some interactions he had — or should have had, but didn’t — with Manning. Kupp said he accidentally ignored Manning’s text messages for years, starting when the Hall of Famer texted him a photo of Kupp and Manning together at Manning’s passing camp.
“I got a message from a random number with a picture of him and I was back at the Manning Passing Academy,” Kupp said at the time, via the NFL’s official Instagram account. “And I was like, ‘That’s so weird. Who would have this picture?’”
Manning would have the picture, that’s who. Kupp said he realized after a while that all the texts he received were from the same “random number” and coincided with events where he had seen Peyton.
“I look back through the messages and they all line up with certain events where we’d seen each other,” Kupp said. “So I think I’ve been ghosting Peyton Manning for my entire NFL career.”
Kupp commented “My bad Peyton!” on the Instagram post sharing his story.
Perhaps it wasn’t all Manning’s fault. Eli Manning recently revealed that Peyton has some extremely unusual texting habits, so it’s possible Kupp experienced some of that. Whatever the case, the Super Bowl MVP probably wishes he put everything together sooner.
