Eli Manning divulges Peyton’s odd texting habits

Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning may have his own NFL telecast and production company, but the Hall of Famer has never seemed like someone who is big on technology. According to his brother Eli, texting with Peyton can be a real chore.

Eli discussed Peyton’s texting habits during a recent appearance on the “Great Dane Nation” podcast with former NFL kicker Morten Anderson. He said his and Peyton’s father, Archie, “texts more than a 13-year-old girl” and needs to be told to put his phone down at the dinner table sometimes. Anderson then pointed out that he often just gets an emoji back when he texts Peyton. Eli said that is his older brother’s style with everyone.

“Same here. I’m not even asking him a question, or I am asking him a question — and I need a yes or no, or to know what time he’s getting in tomorrow — I just get like the ‘ok’ emoji,” Eli said, as transcribed by Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post. “I don’t know what that means.”

If Peyton has a lot to say, Eli said he will do so using a voice memo rather than typing it out.

“And now, if he has something to say — if it’s too long to text and he actually has to use words or write a sentence — he doesn’t text that anymore,” Eli added. “He leaves a voice memo. So he texts you what he wants to say, but he doesn’t actually have a conversation.”

Whether he’s using a voice memo to text or dropping an S-bomb on a hot microphone, Peyton definitely gives off the impression that technology is not an area of expertise for him.
