The Dallas Cowboys will be without one of their running backs for the rest of the season.
Cowboys executive Stephen Jones said during an interview on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas Friday that running back Miles Sanders is out for the season. Sanders is dealing with ankle and knee injuries.
Javonte Williams has been the Cowboys’ lead back for the whole season. He has 79 carries for 447 yards and 5 touchdowns. Sanders has rushed 20 times for 117 yards and a touchdown, and has 8 catches for 30 yards.
Jaydon Blue will serve as the backup to Williams with Sanders out.
“We’re so fired up about what Jaydon Blue can do for this offense. He has rare explosiveness. … I think he’s going to bring something to the RB position we haven’t had,” Jones said during his interview.
The comments from Jones will have fans asking what has taken the Cowboys so long to play the rookie, but he will finally be getting his chance.
Dallas enters Week 6 with a 2-2-1 record. They visit the 2-3 Carolina Panthers on Sunday before hosting the Washington Commanders for a divisional game the following week.
