Tony Romo is practicing with the Dallas Cowboys this week for the second week in a row, but it does not sound like he is all that close to suiting up on game day.
Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reported on Wednesday that the Cowboys coaching staff has “no plans to get Tony Romo back into a game anytime soon.” While Romo is said to have been cleared medically, Dallas is Dak Prescott’s team at the moment.
“The team is content with Dak Prescott and wants to get Tony Romo into game shape before getting him back on the field,” Cole said. “The bottom line is there is no intention of getting Romo back out on the field until he is absolutely ready and the team needs to have him.”

An earlier report from Wednesday revealed that doctors have cleared Romo for contact, so holding him out of Week 10 is apparently a decision the coaching staff — not the Cowboys medical staff — is making.
By now, Romo fully understands the situation in Dallas. The team is 7-1 and has not lost since Week 1. There’s simply no way he is going to start unless Prescott gets hurt or starts to struggle badly. The best thing the Cowboys can do now is pretend Romo is not yet in game shape, but some recent comments Jerry Jones made summed up the situation perfectly. The starting job is officially Prescott’s to lose.
