Shurmur: Daniel Jones has ‘exceeded expectations’ in Giants’ camp
The New York Giants are very pleased with the early camp showing from their rookie quarterback.
Giants coach Pat Shurmur effusively praised Daniel Jones on Wednesday, saying that the rookie has “exceeded expectations” and demonstrated that there is nothing he can’t do.
Some telling comments today from coach Pat Shurmur about Daniel Jones in saying that so far he’s “exceeded expectations.” Impressed with his smarts, ability to throw and mobility.
“We really haven’t seen anything he can’t do in terms of playing quarterback.” #Giants

To the shock of many, the Giants made Jones the No. 6 pick in April, and were widely ridiculed for it. That hasn’t stopped the organization from being bullish about him in the face of public opinion, and to be fair, they should know more than the general public about what Jones can do.
The Giants have been steadfast that Eli Manning will be their starter in 2019 despite his underwhelming 2018 season. If he gets off to a slow start and the Giants keep praising Jones, people are going to start asking why Jones is not playing if he’s as good as they say he is.
