Darren Sproles traded to Eagles

Darren SprolesDarren Sproles has done an awful lot of complaining over the past 48 hours for a player who wound up being traded to a playoff contender. Sproles was unhappy that he found out on Twitter that the New Orleans Saints were planning to trade him. He then said publicly that he would rather be cut than traded. On Thursday, Sproles was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Saints reportedly received a fifth-round pick for Sproles, who should provide Philadelphia with an instant boost on offense and special teams if he can remain healthy. Chip Kelly loves to utilize all of his weapons on offense, and Sproles could be a tremendous asset spelling LeSean McCoy and catching passes out of the backfield.

As Rotoworld’s Adam Levitan pointed out, the Eagles ranked 26th in kick return average and 27th in punt return average last season. Sproles should help remedy that issue.

On Wednesday night, Sproles’ wife Michele blasted the Saints organization for the way the have handled Darren. We don’t know where Sproles wanted to play and if Philly would have been a place he would have chosen to go, but it could have been much worse. He has joined a team with an arrow that is pointing up heading into the 2014 season.
