Report: DeAngelo Williams unlikely to play against Broncos

Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams could reportedly miss another game as he recovers from an ankle injury.

A source told NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Monday that it is “not looking good” for Williams to suit up against the Denver Broncos.

Williams, who was carted off the field during Pittsburgh’s Week 17 win over the Cleveland Browns, recently visited with a foot specialist. The Steelers were hopeful that he would be able to play in the second round of the playoffs, but the veteran appears to be trending in the wrong direction.

The Steelers rushed for 167 yards on 29 total carries as a team against the Cincinnati Bengals, so Jordan Todman and Fitzgerald Touissant did their part. That said, Pittsburgh already has Antonio Brown in the concussion protocol after he took a vicious hit to the head area from Vontaze Burfict. Ben Roethlisberger is also battling a shoulder injury, though he is going to play. Pittsburgh’s playmakers are hurting.
