The Houston Texans have made some pretty unpopular moves recently, and now their franchise player may be letting them know how he feels about them.
Appearing Wednesday on a Twitch livestream, Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was asked who his favorite NFL teammates of all-time were. Watson responded by naming wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins twice as well as safety Tyrann Mathieu, per Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle.
Of course, the All-Pro Hopkins was surprisingly and controversially traded to the Arizona Cardinals this offseason after serving as Watson’s favorite target for the quarterback’s entire career. Mathieu is another player who was let go by the Texans when he signed with Kansas City for a bigger salary in 2019.
Throwing subtle forms of shade at their teams has been a preferred avenue for unhappy NFL stars recently, and it would not be at all surprising if there was deeper meaning to Watson’s very coincidental choice of favorite teammates.
