Details of Dez Bryant’s contract with Saints emerge
Dez Bryant has agreed to a contract with the New Orleans Saints that runs through the remainder of the 2018 season, and it is clearly not just about the money for the star wide receiver.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared some details of Bryant’s contract on Thursday, and he will earn the pro-rated amount of a base salary of $1.25 million, which amounts to $600K for the remainder of the season. He can also earn up to $500K in incentives, bringing the total possible value of the deal to just over $1 million.

Bryant is clearly betting on himself and hoping he can prove he is still worthy of a significant free agent deal this offseason. Schefter also said this week that playing for a contender was important to Bryant, but it’s fair to wonder if he overplayed his hand last summer.
Bryant had the opportunity to sign a multi-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens well before the 2018 season began, and he turned it down in search of a one-year “prove it” contract. He has lashed out at those who say he mishandled the situation, but it will be hard to argue that his risk paid off if he does not play a big role in New Orleans down the stretch.
