New England Patriots safety Devin McCourty is suddenly not considering retirement after all.
Earlier in the week, McCourty floated the possibility of retiring if the Patriots win the Super Bowl, saying it would be amazing to go out a champion after playing with his brother Jason.
“I don’t know for sure, man. But I do look at it — if we can win this game, winning with my brother [Jason], I don’t know what else I could do that could top that,” McCourty said earlier in the week, via Mike Reiss of ESPN. “So I’m just trying to make sure I enjoy this season and enjoy these last couple days with these guys.”

On Wednesday, however, McCourty seemed to backtrack on those comments.

McCourty may well have been musing about a fairy tale ending in his initial comments before coming around to reality. Another Patriot seems far more likely to retire this offseason.
