The Miami Dolphins have signed one of their key players to a long-term contract extension, but their quarterback will still have to wait for his new deal.

Waddle’s contract makes him the fourth highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL in terms of average annual value. The only wide receivers with a higher annual salary are Waddle’s teammate Tyreek Hill, Detroit Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown, and A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Dolphins drafted Waddle with the No. 6 overall pick in 2021. He has had more than 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first three NFL seasons. Waddle had 72 catches for 1,014 yards and 4 touchdowns in 14 games last season.
With Waddle now locked up long term, the big question is whether Tagovailoa will have a new contract before the start of the 2024 season. Some details recently emerged about the negotiations between the two sides.
