The New York Giants have put a minority share of the franchise up for sale, and Eli Manning reportedly wants in.
Manning is assembling a group of investors to purchase a stake in the Giants, according to Gillian Tan and Randall Williams of Bloomberg. Manning has spoken to individual investors about getting involved, some of whom are former NFL players.
Manning had suggested he would have interest if the Giants put any shares of the franchise up for sale. In a January interview with CNBC, he said he would “definitely” have interest in ownership, but only if it involved a stake in his former team.
Giants owners John Mara and Steve Tisch announced in January they were exploring the sale of a portion of the franchise, though they intend to retain their controlling stakes. That effort is said to be ongoing, and no decision on any sale is imminent.
One other high-profile former athlete has expressed interest in getting involved, though that athlete does not have any ties to the organization. Manning very much does, having become one of the franchise’s most celebrated quarterbacks and a two-time Super Bowl champion.
Any purchase of the Giants, even a minority stake, would be an expensive proposition. Forbes valued the franchise at $7.3 billion in 2024, so Manning would have to assemble a group with some significant financial muscle.
