Eric Dickerson threatens to skip Super Bowl over treatment by Rams

Eric Dickerson before a game

Eric Dickerson is one of the most iconic Rams players of all time, yet he may not be in attendance for Sunday’s Super Bowl.

Dickerson said in a radio interview Thursday that he was not planning on attending the game, and he blamed the Rams for his decision.

“I don’t think I’m going to the game,” Dickerson told CBS Sports Radio’s “Maggie and Perloff Show”, via John Breech of CBS Sports. “I’m just going to watch it on TV.”

Dickerson revealed that he was not pleased with the tickets he was offered by the organization, which apparently would have stuck the running back in the nosebleed seats.

“Let’s put it like this, they wanted to give me tickets in the rafters,” Dickerson explained. “In the 400s, so I said, ‘I’d rather stay at home and watch it.'”

Dickerson’s post-retirement relationship with the Rams has been up-and-down to say the least. In 2016, he was banned from the sidelines by then-coach Jeff Fisher, prompting public criticism from Dickerson that apparently contributed to the coach’s firing. The two sides made amends, but that did not stop Dickerson from vocally opposing some changes the team has made in recent years.

Should the Rams have found Dickerson some better seats? Honestly, the answer is probably yes. He’s a franchise legend and has demonstrated his willingness to call out the organization if he feels like it’s justified. They probably should have seen this one coming.
