Everyone said the same thing about Drake Maye arriving at Patriots’ headquarters
If first impressions truly matter, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye came up a bit short on Friday as he arrived for the first day of rookie minicamp.
Cameras caught Maye, the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, walking up to the Gillette Stadium doors with his pants pockets at maximum capacity. He looked like a toddler with a full diaper and several on X, formerly known as Twitter, let him have it.

Retired NFL offensive lineman and current sportscaster, Ross Tucker, joked that Maye’s stuffed pockets might be a “red flag.”
I’ve never seen someone have bigger/more items in their pockets than Drake Maye.

The recently retired Jason Kelce also felt the need to chime in, pointing out that Maye was wearing a backpack and sarcastically admitting that Tucker may be onto something.
“With a backpack on as well. I mean, I understand overstuffed pockets if it’s your only option to hold things, but this has to be cumbersome to walk around like that,” Kelce wrote. “I’m here for Ross Tucker player evaluations on guys entering buildings, I think there’s something to this.”
There’s no denying that it was a silly look for Maye but perhaps everyone is being too critical. For all we know, the rookie skipped breakfast and had simply stashed away a few tater tots for a post-practice snack.
