Julio Jones may not be reporting to Falcons training camp on time, but that does not mean all hope is lost.
NFL Network reporter Tiffany Blackmon says an Atlanta team source told her they are “hopeful” to get something done with the wide receiver.
Spoke w/ Falcons team source. They are “hopeful” to get something done with Julio. Important to note that the two sides have been talking about the contract for a while now- not just recently, and have both expressed their concerns. Each sees the other’s point of view.

Jones is in the middle of his contract with the Falcons and expected to earn $10.5 million in 2018. He reportedly will not report to camp unless the Falcons give him a new deal. Atlanta is said to have no interest in doing so, but the two sides at least are talking.
Atlanta’s side is that they already gave Jones a massive deal three years ago that included $47 million. He should honor that deal. Jones likely feels that the contract is outdated and that he deserves more money and years added on. We’ll see who budges first.
