Former teammates say Colin Kaepernick should have a job by now

Colin Kaepernick

Two of Colin Kaepernick’s former teammates think that the quarterback is certainly good enough to be signed by now.

San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde said on the first day of the team’s offseason program that, on merit, Kaepernick should have a job.

“I’ve seen some quarterbacks who got signed that, in my opinion, Kap is way better than,” Hyde said Monday, via Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. “But, you know, I’m not a GM. I’m not a head coach. So that’s out of my league.”

Linebacker NaVorro Bowman agreed.

“I think he’s proven that he can play at this level,” Bowman said. “He’s made a choice that’s kind of had a little backlash from it. But I think he’ll be fine. Someone will give him a job. He’s not like a bad guy or anything. So I think that’s what matters in the NFL, if you can play level and your character is great. So I wish him the best.”

The comments by Kaepernick’s former teammates are similar to those made by a former divisional rival, who went even further in his assessment of the situation. Some believe Kaepernick would be a distraction, but the guys who played with him in San Francisco certainly don’t seem to think of him that way.
