Hakeem Nicks says the Giants aren’t spotlight hungry like the Jets
Every season, people debate whether New York is a Giants town or a Jets town. Considering the Giants have won two Super Bowls in the last four seasons and the Jets haven’t won anything since Super Bowl 3, there shouldn’t really be any argument. However, the Jets find creative ways to stay in the spotlight like appearing on Hard Knocks or Rex Ryan’s annual guarantees. According to Hakeem Nicks, littering the covers of the New York tabloids is less important to the G-Men than it is the Jets.
“Man it feels good (to be the kings of New York),” Nicks told WFNZ in Charlotte according to Sports Radio Interviews. “We look at it like the Jets…they can get the credit. They like being in the limelight. We feed off of our coach. Our coaches (say) don’t talk and play the game. I think that is what we feed off of. We know what we are capable of doing. We don’t gotta sit here and boost ourselves up. We’ll go out there and prove out on the field. That’s what we did.”
Tough to argue with that. The Jets are trying to win like every other team, but they remain relevant by constantly talking trash and guaranteeing wins. They continue to make themselves look dumb by popping off at the mouth and the Giants continue to succeed when it matters. For that reason, I have to agree with Nicks. I’d take “Giants Win Another Ring” as a headline over “Rex Promises a Super Bowl” any day of the week.
