Harrison Butker set to undergo knee surgery
The Kansas City Chiefs will have a new kicker for Week 11.
The Chiefs on Thursday placed Harrison Butker on injured reserve due to a knee injury. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that Butker will undergo surgery to trim the meniscus in his left knee. The 29-year-old is expected to miss 3-4 weeks due to the procedure.
The news of Butker’s surgery plans do not come as a surprise to those who have watched the kicker closely this season.
Butker has gone down to his left knee after kicks this season, showing what a problem the injury has been.
Harrison Butker has collapsed on his left knee following through EVERY kick this season.
It is a change in his technique that really caught my attention, and unfortunately it’s not surprising his left knee needs a meniscus procedure.
Hope he gets healthy. https://t.co/DsSVrKmFuz pic.twitter.com/1szLcRzQea

Despite the injury, Butker has still made 90 percent of his field goal attempts this season (18/20) and 95.5 percent of his extra point attempts (21/22).
The Chiefs are signing Spencer Shrader off the Jets’ practice squad to fill Butker’s spot. Shrader has kicked in games for both the Jets and Colts this season. He has gone 2/2 on field goals and 3/3 on extra points.
The Chiefs are 9-0 and have road games against the Bills and Panthers over the next two weeks.
