Report: Jay Cutler has ‘fallen out of favor’ with some of Bears’ staff
Jay Cutler’s future with the Chicago Bears is looking murkier than ever.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the longtime Bears quarterback has “fallen out of favor” with some members of the coaching staff, which could enable Brian Hoyer to keep the job going forward.
Head coach John Fox in particular wants to see fewer turnovers from the position, and would be happy to stick with Hoyer provided he continues to perform steadily.
La Canfora reports that “heated words” were exchanged among the coaching staff after Cutler’s last game regarding whether or not he should have been pulled sooner, and there has long been a debate over the level of respect Cutler commands in the team’s locker room.
Fox has said publicly that he’s not going to replace any player who’s performing well enough. That may well mean that Cutler’s time in Chicago is rapidly coming to a close.
