So how badly did Jerry Jones want Paxton Lynch? Very badly, apparently, because the Cowboys owner said he lost sleep over the fact that he wasn’t able to trade up and get him.
Jones said that he was so mad about not trading up for Lynch that he barely slept Thursday night – and felt that he should have overpaid to move up for the Memphis quarterback.
Jerry Jones said he got about only 3 hours of sleep after missing out on Paxton Lynch. "I was still mad about it the next morning."

Jerry Jones: "When I look back on my life, I've overpaid for my big successes every time. I probably should've overpaid [for Paxton Lynch]."

It’s not even a tiny bit surprising to see that Jones so aggressively wanted a guy like Lynch. We already knew they tried hard to get him, but it was Denver that managed to make the trade for him, and Dallas used the 135th pick on Dak Prescott.
It’s okay, Jerry. Now you can start the succession planning that you wanted.
