Jets reportedly open to trading Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewater

The New York Jets are open to trading Teddy Bridgewater, according to a report.

The New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta reported on Wednesday that the Jets are “amenable” to moving Bridgewater in “the right circumstance.”

Bridgewater still has not seen true game action — save a few snaps last season — since suffering a devastating knee injury before the 2016 season. He is competing with rookie Sam Darnold and veteran Josh McCown for the starting job. Most reports have suggested the Jets expect Darnold to win the job.

In a perfect scenario, both Darnold and Bridgewater would play well in the season. That would allow them to start Darnold and then potentially deal Bridgewater. Bridgewater counts for $6 million against the salary cap, but if he has a good preseason, other teams could show interest in him.

The Jets open up the preseason on Friday against the Falcons.
