Joe Flacco thinks he’s the best quarterback in football
Joe Flacco must be crazy, because he thinks he is the best quarterback in football. Appearing on WNST Monday, the Ravens quarterback was asked if he believed he was a top-five quarterback in the NFL — a debate sparked by Flacco’s agent, who was pursuing top-five quarterback money for his client. Flacco one-upped his representative.
“Without a doubt. What do you expect me to say? … I assume everybody thinks they’re a top-five quarterback,” Flacco said to the cheer of fans present for the interview. “I mean, I think I’m the best. I don’t think I’m top five, I think I’m the best. I don’t think I’d be very successful at my job if I didn’t feel that way. I mean, c’mon? That’s not really too tough of a question. But that doesn’t mean that things are gonna work out that way. It just means that that’s the way it is, that’s the way I feel it is, and that’s the way I feel it should be.”
Flacco just comes off sounding foolish. We always believe players should be confident in themselves the way Eli Manning was before last season began, but this seems like too much of a stretch. I guess we shouldn’t have expected him to say anything else. Flacco has already complained about not getting enough credit, and about the team being disrespected in the media, so all that coupled with this statement makes Flacco seem completely out of touch. The Ravens should hope Flacco uses all that as motivation to prove he is the best quarterback in the NFL. We have our doubts.
