Joe Namath apologizes to Geno Smith for questioning his toughness
Joe Namath ended up with egg on his face after he sent a tweet on Sunday questioning Geno Smith’s toughness, and the New York Jets legend has since apologized.
On Tuesday morning, a day after it was revealed that Smith suffered a torn ACL, Namath sent the following tweet:
@GenoSmith7 My bad Geno. In the dark ages we players had the say. I hope you heal and play as long as you choose! Joe

Smith suffered a knee injury against the Baltimore Ravens and did not return to the game. He stood on the sidelines under his own power during the second half, and Namath felt that Smith should be playing if he was able to do that. You can read the initial tweet Broadway Joe sent here.
While it certainly didn’t seem like Smith suffered a season-ending injury, that just proves that you can never be sure. Namath has made it clear in the past that he is not the biggest Smith fan, but his tweet was out of line. He obviously realizes that now.
