Cowboys expected to hire John Fassel as special teams coordinator. A Rams coach just raved about his energy, influence on building culture in LA. "He makes it cool to play special teams. He's pretty rare. He's different in a good way. …He's very positive in his whole teaching."

Fassel, 45, was special teams coordinator for the Raiders from 2008-2011 and then moved to the Rams. He has served as the Rams’ special teams coordinator since then and his contract with the team reportedly expired, allowing Dallas to hire him.
Fassel helped kicker Greg Zuerlein, punter and holder Johnny Hekker, and long snapper Jake McQuaide combine to make seven Pro Bowls.
Keith O’Quinn was the Cowboys’ special teams coordinator this season and received criticism, so that was an area the Cowboys were expected to change.
Mike McCarthy has already hired Mike Nolan as defensive coordinator and may convince Kellen Moore to remain as offensive coordinator.
