Even though it did not play a major role in the Baltimore Ravens’ collapse on Sunday night, coach John Harbaugh had some harsh words for one of his star players for a “foolish” on-field decision during the game.
Harbaugh singled out safety Kyle Hamilton for criticism over a play Hamilton made during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 41-40 loss to the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. After intercepting Josh Allen’s two-point conversion attempt, Hamilton actually tried pitching the ball backward to teammate Kyle Van Noy. With virtually no chance to return the conversion attempt and get two points the other way, all Hamilton really did was risk a turnover that might have allowed the Bills to get the two points anyway.

Harbaugh thought the play was so ill-advised that he joked that he questioned whether Hamilton really went to a prestigious academic school in Notre Dame.
“I thought that was one of the most foolish things I’ve ever seen. He agreed and it should never happen again,” Harbaugh said, via Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.
The play wound up having little bearing on the eventual outcome, but it is easy to see where things could have gone horribly wrong for Hamilton and the Ravens.
On the other hand, some Ravens fans would suggest that Harbaugh himself was responsible for one of the game’s more foolish decisions. The team has a lot to work on after such a devastating loss, and this is just one of the issues.
