John Harbaugh is officially the new head coach of the New York Giants, and he is ready and eager to pump up the fans after landing the job.
Harbaugh agreed to a five-year deal with the Giants, according to multiple reports, which was finalized on Saturday. He quickly sent a message to the fans through Ian O’Connor of The Athletic, and his words should definitely have Giants fans excited.
“It’s the New York Football Giants,” Harbaugh said. “I can’t wait to get started. I know how great our fans are. I’ve seen them close up enough. We are going to build a team that’s going to play a brand of football that you will be proud of.”
John Harbaugh to me to New York Giants fans: "It's the New York Football Giants. I can't wait to get started. I know how great our fans are. I've seen them close up enough. We are going to build a team that's going to play a brand of football that you will be proud of."

Harbaugh added that he will report directly to owner John Mara and not general manager Joe Schoen. That power structure was thought to be one of the reasons an agreement was held up for several days, even though Harbaugh and the Giants had settled on each other by late Wednesday.
Giants fans have had to endure some truly awful football over parts of the last few seasons. Harbaugh has shown he can win in the NFL, and certainly will not be overawed by the pressure of coaching in New York. This is the best hire the team could have possibly made, and it is safe to expect a surge of fan enthusiasm for it now that it is actually happening.
