Jon Ryan suffered broken nose on botched punt (Video)

Seahawks punter Jon Ryan took a brutal face-plant on a botched punt attempt against the Vikings on Sunday, and the end result was a turnover on downs and a broken nose.

Ryan, who tried to run for a first down after a low snap disrupted his timing, was upended and landed on his head. As Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times notes, Ryan broke his nose on the play and had it set back into place after the game.

He continued with his normal duties despite looking like Uma Thurman in “Pulp Fiction.”

Ryan is expected to be available when the Seahawks travel to Carolina to face the 15-1 Panthers next weekend. Considering the way the game against Minnesota started and how costly the botched punt could have been, Ryan must be relieved that Blair Walsh somehow shanked this kick and Seattle held on to win.

The broken nose will serve as a reminder that punters have no business trying to hurdle defenders.
