Jets rookie Jordan Travis reveals his big goal
The New York Jets took a flier on Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, but he has some big ambitions despite his low draft capital.
Travis spoke to the media Saturday after his first day of rookie minicamp, and he admitted he has already given extensive thought to potentially being Aaron Rodgers’ successor whenever Rodgers ultimately leaves the team.
“I do think about that a lot,” Travis said, via Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. “But right now I’m just focused on where my feet are — getting healthy, getting everybody around me better, being a great teammate.”
Travis is still coming back from the broken leg he suffered late in Florida State’s season. Much of his rookie year will be spent working his way back from that.
Rodgers has said he would like to play multiple seasons before he retires. That would certainly give Travis the chance to prove himself as a potential successor, though few will see him as the next Jordan Love, at least initially.
