Josh Allen had the best reaction after Matt Prater’s game-winning field goal

Nobody was happier than Josh Allen after watching Matt Prater make the game-winning kick for the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

The Bills beat the Ravens 41-40 in a game Buffalo simply had no business winning. Baltimore had such a firm grip on the game in the second half that several Bills fans headed for the exits early at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y.

Buffalo trailed 40-25 with under four minutes left, but somehow found themselves a field goal away from winning in the dying seconds. Prater sealed the Bills’ historic comeback with a 32-yard field goal as time expired.

It was quite a first game for Prater, who had just joined the Bills a few days prior. Allen made sure to give him the warmest of welcomes after the veteran kicker came up clutch.

“Hey! Hey! Hey! Heyyy!” Allen screamed at Prater, with each word getting progressively louder. “Come on! Let’s go! Welcome to Buffalo, baby!”

The Bills signed Prater to their practice squad on Sept. 4 after longtime Buffalo kicker Tyler Bass suffered a hip injury. Prater went from receiving the call from the Bills to kicking a game-winning field goal for them in the span of a few days.

Prater may be new to the Bills, but he’s no stranger to high-pressure kicking situations. His appearance in Sunday’s game marked the start of his 19th season in the NFL. The 41-year-old has played for four other NFL franchises, most recently for the Arizona Cardinals last season.

During his postgame press conference, Allen said that he had just met Prater in the Bills’ locker room two days before the game. Allen also revealed that Prater had promised to give Allen “everything I’ve got” in the Week 1 matchup against the Ravens.

Prater stayed true to that promise, going 3/3 on field goal attempts and 2/2 on extra point tries. Allen returned the favor, and then some. The Bills QB went off for 394 passing yards and 2 touchdowns in the stunning season-opening win.
